Internationally known colored pencil artist, Linda Lucas Hardy was named as one of the 10 Artists To Watch in 2008 by Southwest Art Magazine. Her articles and artwork have appeared in The "Artist's", “International Artist", The American Artist "DRAWING", "Southwest Art", "American Art Collector" and Northlight Magazines.

The depth and breadth of her work as well as the level of color saturation and power that she has achieved with colored pencil gives one a new appreciation of how a medium can be exploited by a dedicated master. Renowned for her glorious paintings of fruit wrapped in diaphanous clear plastic, Linda is currently enjoying considerable attention for her remarkable skill. Not only has her work has been shown in more than 30 national and international exhibitions she has received an equal number of awards and honors.

No one captures animals in colored pencil like Gemma, so we are very pleased to have Gemma teach with us on this cruise!  Gemma will share with us her techniques for creating beautifully expressive canine eyes and also teach you how to create believable, touch-able fur. How lucky are we that she's willing to teach us her secrets!

Gemma Gylling is a California native who grew up on a small ranch in Southern California and currently resides in Discovery Bay , California with her family and two dogs. She developed her colored pencil technique to a photo-realism quality. Her method is applying several layers of color using the colored pencil. The result simulates the look of an oil or acrylic painting. 

Gemma will be teaching you how to work on the fabulous new surface - suede board!  This surface takes tons of layers, is very forgiving, and saves you hours of time, since you have a beautiful background built in!  Very exciting class!!

Gemma was recently accepted into the Society of Animal Artists, the International Guild of Realism, the Canine Art Guild, is a board member of the National Board of CPSA. Her colored pencil paintings have been accepted in CPSA exhibitions along with many other nationally acclaimed art shows.
