portrait workshops with ann kullberg
What a blast your class was! It made me feel better than anything I've done lately,
and helped my after-age-50 artistic confidence. You are a fabulous teacher and truly a pioneer in colored pencil.-Julia, Savannah, GA
I haven't settled down yet from class. I am on such a "high" for all that I learned. I had a wonderful time.
Thanks for such a great class!-Nora, Boston, MA
I just loved meeting you and your class was amazing! I love your attitude and the way you just seem to 'do it'!!!! and you're not afraid to share your technique and if you don't know HOW to do something you just work at it until you figure it out! YOU and your class are amazing! When I got back to Pittsburgh I pulled out all of my old sorry attempts at colored pencil portraits and saw how much I learned from just three days in even such a large class! Thank you so much. - Rose, Pittsburgh, PA

what can you expect from an Ann Kullberg Workshop? |
PORTRAIT WORKSHOP - Part 1:
Learn secrets in creating incredible life-like portraits. If you never had a chance to study or do a masters degree in art then this is perfect for you and a great chance to re ignite your passion for art. With step-by-step exercises and guidance, Ann will give hands-on lessons in using color, light, and glazing techniques to bring richness & depth to your colored pencil portraits. Learn to create smooth skin tones, render hair and capture a likeness. Ann will also lend helpful advice on the "business side" of portraiture---contracts, commissions, finding clients and fees will be discussed.
I want to send a "thanks!" to you for the wonderful Ann Arbor workshop. I learned so much, and have really been in high gear with colored pencils since! I'm close to finishing one of your kits (the cat), and will soon be starting my first real portrait - a friend's son hugging his new puppy. Attending the workshop has been quite inspiring, to say the least!
I've found that your value viewer has become quite an indispensable tool - I'm not only able to judge value more easily now, but found that I'm able to isolate and choose colors much more accurately. It feels as if I'm learning to see with fresh eyes.
Laura and I also appreciated and enjoyed your easy-going manner and accessible teaching style - with such an unexpectedly large class, you still managed to give individual help to each of the participants every day. And Laura just loved your talk on the business aspect of portraiture...she said that that one afternoon alone was worth the price of admission! - Jan and Laura |

PORTRAIT WORKSHOP - Part 2:
This workshop is reserved for those who've already taken Part I, but is not just for those with lots of colored pencil experience. In this class, everyone works on their own piece, with lots of guidance from Ann about color, value, texture and composition. Ann will do at least 1 "walk-around" each day with the whole class going from student to student, discussing each person's painting...what's going well, what to do next, what needs correcting, etc. It's high energy and you can learn a ton! |

I came from Toronto to take one of your workshops several years ago.
I felt like I gained 10 years of experience crammed into 4 days,
through your amazingly generous sharing of knowledge.
I'm ever grateful! - Bonnie Sheckter

Thanks SO much for coming and teaching us. I know EVERYONE had a blast,
including me! I learned the most I've ever learned in a workshop before.

This was the best workshop that I have ever attended, You are a great teacher, I learned more in the three days than I have since I joined CPSA. I am looking forward to receiving the magazine.
